AntiPodr
I'm a big fan extremely simple web apps, that are also interesting. AntiPodr did exactly that. I know one of the first things I did when discovering Googe maps was to scroll the globe around to figure out what was on the exact other end of the earth. (since as I kid, I always thought China was on the other end; so you can imagine my disappointment findiing out that it is actually in the middle of the Indian ocean.).
The presentation is really simple, and it doesn't pretend to be anything more than it is.

CurseBird
This one isn't particularly useful, but it can be hilarioius. Cursebird checks twitter in real time for tweets containing curse words (inevitably making them funnier than the average tweet). The design is extremely simple, and like AntiPodr it doesn't try to be anything more than what it is.

CatchYouTube
Youtube can be great, but sometimes some of those videos end up being a bit less than legal. With Google getting thousands of takedown requests per day, it would certainly be helpful if you could save those videos before they get taken offline (or if you'd just like to save videos for offline viewing). CatchYouTube provides an extremely easy way to accomplish that, you just copy the youtube URL, select the video format you want to download it in, and you have your video file.

WebWait
Now here is a mashup that is incredibly useful. I've often worked on websites that were fast to load from my computer, but were really slow from elsewhere. WebWait gives you a quick and easy way to test the loading time of a site (and even better it sends the requests multiple times and takes the average to eliminate any anomalously large or small wait times.

UmbrellaToday
I've given a few of the previous mashups positive reviews because of they were a combination of simplicity and usefulness. UmbrellaToday is a perfect example of both.. You enter your zip code, and UmbrellaToday will tell you whether or not you should bring an umbrella with you today- and that is all - just a simple 'yes' or 'no' answer. Sure it might be useful to know a little more, but that kinda defeats the purpose.
